I cannot believe it is not shared by every single citizen of this country. I will never again be shocked that the citizens who lived near Bergen-Belson and Dachau claimed to know nothing of the smells that wafted over their towns, the fine ash that settled on everything certain days…….and if anyone wants to play the “Don’t bring up the Holocaust” card, you know what? Shut up. It is the same damned thing. Again. And again. And again. It’s not that humans murder other humans. That started with Cain and Abel. It’s that we now know how, with all of our twentieth century technology and our fine scientific minds, to murder efficiently and in batches. I live in a town whose abortion clinic for 30 years resided next to a Burger King and across from the Public Library. We never heard their screams. That doesn’t mean they didn’t die, and we didn’t let it happen.
