Thanks for this! I have erred and will make a correction.

And sorry it took me 16 days to say so! My wife gave birth rather unexpectedly on the 5th, so it’s been a crazy couple of weeks with a lot of hospital visits. All’s well now, though.

One inaccuracy that stood out: You said, “we’ve seen double-digit property tax increases in the past few years.” I don’t think that’s true. As I noted in my post fact-checking Jim Probst (http://www.kevindhendricks.com/2018/10/16/west-st-paul-ward-2-fact-checking-jim-probst/), recent tax increases are:

2018: 10.9%
2017: 6.33%
2016: 4.77%

The proposed 2019 number is 9.96%, but that’s a preliminary maximum and it generally comes down (2018 came down a full percent, and I think 2017 came down two percentage points).

Now maybe your property taxes went up by double digits in the past few years, but property taxes are complicated and things like the value of your property compared to the rest of the city could account for rising (or falling) property taxes. The numbers I gave above are from the city so we can compare apples to apples.

Overall, you and I disagree on a lot. There are other points to quibble over, but you’ve read my posts and mostly not been swayed, so I’ll leave it at that. I am grateful that you linked to my posts, and I’m especially grateful that we agree on the ward 3 race. People will disagree on policy, but there are some things we should all be able to agree on. Denouncing gross behavior is one of them. So thanks.
